Mentor Mindset Support for New and Aspiring Educators
Published
On February 16, TMP presented an engaging, interactive workshop for the staff at Shady Lane School focused on cultivating a mentor mindset when supporting student teachers and interns. During this two-hour, research-informed session, educators explored practical, hands-on strategies they can immediately apply in their daily practice.
Participants:
- Practiced active and reflective listening techniques
- Learned how to use transparency statements to build relational trust
- Examined how intentional questioning can foster a growth mindset
This customized training was adapted from TMP’s New Teacher Mentor Training and is designed to help experienced educators shift from a supervisory approach to a more mentor-centered mindset when supporting new and aspiring teachers.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Several educators described the session as an “excellent workshop,” noting that it was “positive, engaging, and interactive” while offering strategies they could implement right away.
