Self-Reflection

Youth culture.

Many adults believe that, in general, teenagers are exceedingly more rebellious than they themselves were as young people.

But is that true?

Rebellion is a common (and perhaps necessary) ingredient in an adolescent’s transition into adulthood. Take the time to remember what it was like to be a teen. Imagine for a moment what life was like when you were in middle school.

  • What was a typical day like?
  • What was really important to you at that time?
  • How was your relationship with your parents? Did you get along?
  • Were friendships always easy or were they sometimes hard?
  • In general, did you feel as though adults typically understood you well?
  •

While some things like clothing styles, technology and music have changed a lot, some things stay the same. Life as a teenager is just plain challenging!
