Self-Reflection

You are making a difference.

Do you ever think that young people aren’t listening to you? That they don’t see you or maybe that they don’t have anything to learn from your experiences? It can be easy to get discouraged if you feel like you’re not making a difference. But you are.

Remember that offering positive support to young people is more about noticing small changes over time. Just by being there, you are letting a child know that you care and that is a very empowering thing.

Saturday Light Brigade has a great program, Crossing Fences, which gives youth the opportunity to learn from men in their communities. Each summer, kids across the Pittsburgh area interview men from their communities to learn about their lives, accomplishments and impact on their community.
