Tips for Helping Young People with Homework
Starting a new school year can be overwhelming. In addition to new faces and a new grade, sometimes children are assigned more homework and projects than in the past. Adjusting to more homework, especially after summer break, can be stressful!
As caring adults, we can help our young people approach homework with a positive mindset! Try some of these tips:
- Limit distractions by helping youth find or create a quiet space
- Provide resources such as pencils, scratch paper or a dictionary
- Encourage youth to manage their schedule by setting aside time each day for homework
- Reinforce the idea that it is better to ask for help then to be unsure
Homework help is another way you can show your young people that you support them. If you need additional tips and resources, educate yourself on how you can help with a child's homework.
