The Power of Checking In
Lets do This
As caring adults, we have the opportunity to show support and encourage youth all year round. And while it’s important to be there when a young person asks for help, impromptu check-ins can also go a long way in showing them you care and that you’re thinking about them.
We teamed up with Fred Rogers Productions to create encouragement cards that make it easy to check in and offer up a smile or word of thanks. Available in both English and Spanish and featuring some of our favorite Fred Rogers Productions’ neighbors – including Alma, Daniel Tiger, Peg and Cat, and Donkey Hodie – these cards can be printed to drop in the mail or tuck into lunch boxes and backpacks. You can also screen shot them to email or text.
Stay Inspired
These cards include inspiring messages not just of encouragement, but also thanks. So they’re perfect for adults to send to kids and for kids to send to their peers, teachers or other supporters! Turn this into a fun activity – help your young people think through the supporters they have in their lives. This makes it easier for them to visualize their network of support. From there, encourage your young people to write notes of thanks to those who support them each and every day!
