Child Development

Teen Ages and Stages Refresher

Teens are well into problem solving and looking to their next steps in life. When we work to support them, we need to continue to let them take the lead and be gentle guides as they set and achieve their goals. Let’s take a look at some of those milestones for 15-19 year olds:

  • Employs abstract thinking and problem-solving at a higher level.
  • Implements strategies for reaching long-term goals.
  • Manages resources to achieve a goal.
  • Exerts effort and perseveres toward goal attainment.
  • Needs life-planning guidance.

This ages and stages resource can be a helpful guide on child development, but remember that young people advance at their own unique pace.
