Teaching Children to Set a Routine

When going back to school, it’s no secret that schedules fill up quickly. Between extracurriculars, homework and spending time with friends outside of the classroom, things can get overwhelming!  Helping young people set a routine for themselves is a great way to calm the stress of a busy day and empower them to manage their own schedule.

Starting and establishing a routine is normally the most difficult part. To make this step easier for kids, involve them! Help them put their daily routine in writing and have them add simple tasks to the schedule like homework or meal times. Writing it out makes it easier to remember and be accountable for. Once the routine is made, put it into action and make adjustments as needed when new activities begin or events change.
