Talking to Kids About the Importance of Good Nutrition

As National Nutrition Month comes to a close, we thought it would be a good idea to end the month with a look at how to encourage kids to eat nutritious meals.  It can be hard to steer young people toward healthy options when there's no shortage of processed and fast foods available.

But it's important to start a conversation about taking care of yourself and how nutrition plays a critical role in your physical and emotional well-being.  You get out of your body what you put into it.  Teaching kids to make healthy food choices will set them up for success now and in the future!

Check out this Psychology Today article on how to talk to young people about food in a healthy manner.  One of the big key takeaways?  Don't label foods as "good" or "bad."  Rather, explain how some foods help you grow stronger, while others are just fun "sometimes" foods...all of which can come together in a balanced diet.
