Take a College Tour!
The holiday season is upon us and what an exciting time of year it is! With that, most high school students will be on winter break after this week and may be travelling to see family. Why not encourage a young person to add a college visit to their plans? This is a great opportunity to see a campus during the winter months and talk with a college counselor about college life.
Ask your young person if they are interested in going to college. Do they have older family members or friends who went to college? What did they learn from their experiences? Challenge them to make an appointment to visit a college, just to get a feel for what it would be like to be on a campus. If you are talking and a computer is handy, check out a virtual tour of a school you both are familiar with.
It’s never too early to ask a young person if they are interested in college. Many students attend schools based on what they hear from others, so open their minds to new opportunities! Check out this great resources on college tours for high schoolers and why college college visits are important.
