Supporting Youth with Career Readiness

Did you know that most middle school students want to learn more about the education and experience they need for careers they're interested in?

Mentors and caring adults can support young people in exploring, learning and building career readiness!  Research has shown extensively that mentors and caring adults play an instrumental role in exposing youth to different careers and building their confidence and interest, as well as helping them expand their networks.

Help create opportunities for the young people in your life! Here are some ideas to start:

  • Talk to them about what they're interested in and what they want for their future.
  • Explore different careers together through books, online videos, or in-person events.
  • Make sure to include examples beyond traditional pathways!
  • Try out different activities and events to discover new interests and sparks.

July is Career Readiness month with MENTOR!  Check out their website for more resources and information about supporting youth with career readiness.
