Supporting Young People with Bullying Prevention

The start of the school year is such an exciting time and so many fun and new things are happening!  Unfortunately, bullying can also sometimes be a reality of many young people's school experiences. Bullying can have harmful and lasting impacts on youth.  As caring adults, it's essential that we're there for young people to support them so that they can avoid being bullied, support their peers and prevent them from becoming a bully.

University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Pediatrics has shared some helpful information about how to support young people with preventing bullying:

  • Talk to youth about what bullying is and how they can identify it.
  • Talk to youth about what to do if they see bullying happening.
  • Stay involved and engaged, model healthy and respectful behavior and talk to youth often.
