Staying Connected in Times of Social Distancing

Practicing social distancing doesn't have to mean losing connection with the people and world around us; we just have to think a little differently and creatively about how to connect and utilize what resources we have available. With current technology, virtually connecting with others is more available than it's ever been. A video chat, a phone call, or even a text message or email allows us to check in with others and communicate that we care about them and are thinking of them.

Yes, we're maintaining physical distance, but now is not the time to isolate ourselves. Embrace others and the way that our communities are banding together, thinking and problem-solving creatively and working through the hardship. Be generous in your thoughts and actions in ways that you can, whether that's by dropping off a needed supply to someone more vulnerable or offering kind words and emotional support.

While physically avoiding one another during times of stress and uncertainty goes against so many of our natural inclinations, we know that it's important to follow these procedures for the health and well-being of ourselves, our loved ones and our communities. But it's also important that we continue to strive for connectedness and support and care for one another in ways that we can.  So do your best to stay connected right now -- whether it's by social media, a telephone call or video chat!
