Reflections and Resolutions

The start of a new year provides a great opportunity for reflection of what we've done and what we hope to do. You can encourage and support young people as they reflect on the past year and think about the next. Ask them questions about the previous year - what made them happy or proud? what was frustrating or disappointing? - and facilitate some reflection activities such as drawing or journaling.

In giving time and space for reflection, you can also talk about hopes and goals for the coming year. Remember that resolutions will look different for youth of different ages and, at any age, it's best to keep resolutions or goals simple and attainable. Write down resolutions and keep them some place visible. It's even better to do all of this together and share with each other!

For more about making resolutions with youth, here are some great information and tips from PBS Kids.
