Living by the Golden Rule
The Golden Rule is a fundamental concept that almost everyone knows. Its premise is simple: treat others the way you want to be treated. As caring adults, we must lead by example and show kids the importance of living by the Golden Rule. For example, we've all seen varying viewpoints leading up to Election Day today. We need to remind young people that it's OK to disagree with someone, as long as we do so in a respectful way.
The Golden Rule relies on action. Here are some simple ways to enact it:
1. Be kind.
2. Lend a helping hand or listening ear.
3. Smile.
4. Be encouraging and supportive.
5. Be honest.
6. Be fair.
