Provide Support

Intersectional Conversations During Pride Month

June is PRIDE Month, and we're excited to celebrate and continue learning! While we're celebrating, learning and having conversations, it's important to keep an intersectional mindset. Every person has so many different identities that make them who they are, and each of these identities impacts how they experience the world. This means that people's experiences are unique, and - even if ours are different and we may not fully understand - we need to believe others when they talk about their lived experience. That's intersectionality!

This is especially essential when we talk and interact with young people, particularly those who hold marginalized identities. There are a lot of things that influence their experiences and, when they talk to us, we have to believe them, support them  and advocate for them. Don't be afraid to ask them questions about how you can best give and show support!
