Help youth understand the importance of boundaries.
Boundaries help us define healthy relationships with other people. Kids know by age 3 if we will stick to limits or not. By the time they are teenagers, they know just how fluid or rigid our boundaries are in just about every area of our lives.
By setting boundaries when we interact with young people, we become models for how youth can form their own boundaries. Helping youth set their own boundaries can help them stand up to peer pressure, maintain healthy self-esteem and prepare them for positive adult relationships with employers and partners.
