Foster a Love of Learning
Learning and loving go hand in hand.
- Fred Rogers
One thing that’s always clear when we watch videos of Mister Rogers is his abundant curiosity and love of learning. His delight and appreciation for new information and ways of doing things are admirable and something that we can all help to encourage in youth and in ourselves.
You can help to foster a love of learning by:
- Wondering about things and appreciating their curiosity
- Looking and listening carefully, exploring and experimenting
- Teaching by example
As we stay at home right now and distance ourselves from people and places, learning may not always seem so fun or exciting, But this situation also brings the opportunity to be creative and think outside the box. Take a walk around your neighborhood and try to notice and hear new things. Explore new art forms and ways to craft and make art. Or take the learning to the kitchen and experiment with different cookie recipes, noticing how different ingredients have different results. Then celebrate and share the new things you discover together!
