Embracing All Emotions
May is National Mental Health Month! When we think about promoting positive mental well-being -- for ourselves and for young people -- we sometimes focus on thinking only "happy thoughts." But it's important to make space for all emotions, including sadness! As caring adults, we can help youth navigate different emotions and learn to process them in a healthy way.
Big Life Journal offers great tips for helping young people through times when they feel sad, including:

- Normalize sadness
- Work together to develop a coping strategy
