Become a spark champion.
The Minneapolis-based Search Institute has identified indicators for kids who THRIVE. The first indicator is: “A young person can name and describe interests and sparks that give them energy and purpose.”
When adults notice sparks in young people, this can motivate youth to continue developing their spark. Youth don’t always notice their sparks which is why encouraging adults are so important.
So, next time you notice a child show interest or aptitude in an activity, take a moment to ask them a bit more about why they like it. Become their SPARK CHAMPION. Once you both know their spark, then you can begin to work together on igniting their spark into a lifelong passion.
Let’s get a vision for IGNITING SPARKS by watching this TED TALK by Peter Benson.
