Attendance Awareness Month

September is Attendance Awareness Month! Schools everywhere have been facing chronic absences for years. While some are inevitable, it’s important for children to attend school everyday. Research suggests that in-person learning is important for a child’s academic achievement and health. 

In honor of Attendance Awareness Month, we are encouraging caring adults to make attending school fun for the children they know! Perhaps offer the idea of an “attendance challenge.” For example, for every month where they don’t miss a day of school, reward them with a trip to the park or a playdate with a friend.
