TMP Program Spotlight: fitUnited

Improving the health and wellness of children.

According to the PA department of Health, 30% of school children in Allegheny County are overweight or obese, which can affect their school performance and their long-term health. This issue is particularly concerning in under-served communities, where education about healthy choices and access to them are a challenge.

fitUnited was launched to improve the health of kids in our community. They provide adults with the tools to teach kids how to choose and access healthy foods, increase their physical activity, and encourage healthy eating for youth-serving organizations. Just in the past year, 13,700+ children received physical activity and healthy eating resources thanks to 300+ fitUnited trained staffers at youth organizations in the region.

Funding for fitUnited provides tools, training, and support to a network of over 300 organizations working to improve childhood nutrition and physical activity.
