TMP Program Spotlight: CC Champions

Published

CCChampions is a Pittsburgh-based 501(c)3 nonprofit that helps kids with cancer through the developmental & social challenges of the disease. They match each child with an inspirational role model who can be there every step of the way.

Whenever a child is newly diagnosed, we start by asking one simple question:

"What do you want to be when you grow up?"

Whatever that is--a police officer, video game designer, rodeo cowgirl, nurse, bookstore owner, athlete, teacher, clothing designer, chef ...anything!--we match each child with someone inspirational -- a friend who can be there through all the transitions of the cancer journey, just for him or her.

So far, CCChampions has built friendships for over 100 newly diagnosed children in the region.

Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC identified significant changes in the quality of life of our kids, and partnered with CCChampions to bring positive developmental outcomes to child cancer patients across the country.
