Keep Calm and Do Some Belly Breathing
| April 7, 2020
With everything that's going on during this unprecedented time, it can be easy to get caught up in the craziness and feel unable to leave space to be calm and mindful. Mindfulness, or being fully aware of thoughts and feelings and what’s around you, can improve focus and reduce stress for adults and young people. Try and take a few moments now and then to embrace calmness and be mindful and encourage and help the young people in your life do the same.
Looking for some ways to help incorporate mindfulness and calmness into your day?
- Make it a Game: go on a hike and take notice of what’s around you (while following all social distancing guidelines, of course!)
- Do Some Belly Breathing: take a few minutes to inhale and exhale deeply while focusing on each breath
- Try Guided Meditation: find an app on your phone or a video on YouTube!
- Leave Room for Emotion: encourage young people – and yourself – to feel and express feelings.
