Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald has convened a 26-member working group to begin looking at the creation of a potential children's fund to provide resources to early childhood learning and out-of-school time programs across the county.  We're proud and excited to announce that Colleen Fedor, TMP Executive Director, has been chosen to serve within this group.

"The [Our Kids. Our Commitment.] effort last year resulted in having more than 250,000 voters say yes...and many other voters wanted to know more -- which is why I've convened this group, to help all of us put together what a countywide program can look like," Fitzgerald said.

The group is being tasked with a variety ot tasks, including:

  • Review available data to assess the stae of children and children's programming in Allegheny County
  • Gather input from the larger community
  • Design the operations of a possible children's fund to provide resources to early childhood learning and out-of-school time programs
  • Provide sample allocation models and scenarios

"The Our Kids. Our Commitment. initiative sparked important conversations last year among Allegheny County residents," said Fedor.  "I'm excited to serve in this working group so that we can continue to build on that momentum and look for ways to provide the very best resources and opportunities for kids in our community."
