Celebrating National Mentoring Month with the Pittsburgh Steelers (January 2011)

To gear up for National Mentoring Month, we spent a day with the Steelers learning about their mentoring stories. Mentoring impacts everyone in a community and it was exciting to learn about who mentored some of our favorite Pittsburgh Steeler players.

Celebrating 15 Years of Mentoring in Pittsburgh

On Thursday, October 28,2010, The Mentoring Partnership of Southwestern PA celebrated its 15th anniversary with a party at Consol Energy Center. Current and past MPSWPA board members and other friends of mentoring joined us as we reflected on the past 15 years and looked ahead to the excitement the future holds. Thank you to everyone for continuing to promote and support mentoring in our community. Here's to another 15 years!

Mayor Ravenstahl Honors MPSWPA Executive Director with Citizen Service Award
(February 3, 2012)

Mayor Luke Ravenstahl honored The Mentoring Partnership's Executive Director Colleen Fedor with his Citizen Service Award for her dedication to advancing mentoring in our community. To celebrate, he declared Friday, February 3rd "Colleen Fedor Day" in Pittsburgh.

The Mentoring Partnership Appoints Six New Board Members for 2011

Mayor's Mentoring Initiative
(March 22, 2011)

On March 22, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl announced details of his servePGH service plan, which seeks to engage Pittsburghers through various service activities, including the Mayor's Mentoring Initiative. This initiative enables city employees to volunteer as middle-school mentors during the work week. It was launched in partnership with the Be a 6th Grade Mentor program, the largest mentoring recruitment effort in our region.

Sweaters Optional: Mentoring Partnership Recognized at Fred Rogers' "Good Neighbor Day"
(March 20, 2011)

The first-ever Fred Rogers "Good Neighbor Day" was held on Sunday,March 20th to celebrate volunteers within our community. The United Way joined Joanne Rogers in honoring companies, agencies and volunteers who help to make Pittsburgh the great community that it is. The Mentoring Partnership was one of several agencies that joined in the fun to celebrate volunteers who impact the more than 140 local mentoring programs we work with. Thanks to all of our volunteers for being "good neighbors" in our community!

First Lady, Mrs. Obama Inspires at Mentoring Summit

Major mentoring organizations and corporate leaders came together during The National Mentoring Summit in Washington, D.C., to collaborate on supporting youth through mentoring.
