COURSES
This training is intended for those who would like to start a mentoring program, or for those who would like to further strengthen their existing program. This interactive program will introduce the 10 Elements of Effective Practice that should be considered for developing a successful mentoring program. Each registered participant will receive a toolkit as part of the training materials, which provides specific information on program implementation.
The goal of this training is to provide professionals with a greater degree of comfort and confidence with the requirements of mandated reporting of child abuse and neglect. This workshop will present comprehensive information on the recognition and reporting of child abuse and neglect as defined by the Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law, and offer guidelines to understanding and working more effectively with local children and youth agencies.
Networking, sharing resources and learning from other mentoring providers has been an essential element in the success of local mentoring programs. The Mentoring Partnership hosts the Mentoring Leadership Network meetings throughout the year in both Allegheny County (our Pittsburgh office) and in Beaver County. Each meeting includes time to network with peers as well as a topic of interest to help staff and volunteer leaders continue to grow their program and provide the highest quality mentoring to the youth that they serve. Click here for a schedule of upcoming meetings and topics that will be covered.
MentorPRO is a web-based database specifically designed for mentoring programs. It can track volunteer clearances and training, record interactions between mentors and mentees, remind coordinators to follow-up with matches and provide a wide array of reports and statistics about the program. The Mentoring Partnership strongly recommends using MentorPRO to both better manage your program and to demonstrate its effectiveness.
The Mentoring Partnership offers a train-the-trainer session for programs interested in offering mentor training at their individual sites and/or for programs that currently provide training for their mentors.
